Still time to create...........

Whew!  Made it through the weekend and even had a little time to create.  My oldest daughter was surprised when she arrived at the party in honor of her birthday Saturday evening.  It is so hard to keep a surprise.  It was such fun, her boyfriend had gathered some good friends and all of her family, he even had live music.  Great time.  She doesn't like anyone to make a fuss so we usually just do something simple.  This was great, she was so deserving of a big party.

Sunday morning we were sitting on the curb watching for my youngest daughter to run by, she was competing in the Portland Marathon.  Her 10th marathon and 3rd this year.  That was her goal for her 40th birthday this year.  She did really well, beat her last race by 5 minutes, came in at 3:21:31.  Ninth place in her age group.  She was so excited about cutting off 5 minutes from her previous time.

There was also a football game Saturday morning, my middle grandson.  They lost but he gave it a good fight.  He carried the ball several times but the other team was just bigger and faster.  It was a perfect fall morning for football,  chilly, partly cloudy with just a few peeks of sun.

But I still found a little time on Sunday to make a few cards for the sale I am doing next month.

I used the wood veneer again, I really love working with it and some burlap threads.

You're going to laugh when I tell you what I used in the background on this one.  I raided the paint chips at the hardware store recently. Stamp image courtesy of The Graphics Fairy.

This is my favorite.  I started with the mesh fabric that comes off the back of the wood veneer.  I loved how it looked on the card.  Then finished with some copper strips and buttons.  These are all on
5 X 7 cards and blank inside.

I also made a feeble attempt at some Christmas cards but I won't show you them.   Need to work on them a little more.

Great weekend, haven't had one that busy for awhile.  Hope you enjoyed the weekend.  Now on to the next.

Thanks for visiting, have a great week.  Create.

such unique ideas! I like the third one most, I like the contrast of textures and the colors you chose. We'll be delivering in Vancouver in the morning. It's a drop in and run back out kind of load, but I'll be thinking of my Portland and Vancouver blogger friends. Have a great day!

Glad it was a good weekend for you! I had my friend's wedding to decorate for and be in yesterday and today I woke up tired and sore... so I didn't do much of anything today. I tried to email you, but couldn't find your email address. My blog template is one of the old ones. I use it because I can get pretty free backgrounds for it. I tried to use one of the new ones, but, like you, I couldn't get it to extend the width of my header, so I abandoned the idea.

Love that last one, too!! And congrats to your daughter - I can't imagine running for 3 hours! My son is going to run his first marathon next month, but I won't get to sit on the curb and watch - my mom turns 80 the same weekend!

Oh Eloise, I especially love that top image. I don't know why but it makes me think of a shelf of books. I love the varying textures, colors and patterns. Great composition.
