First Collage of the New Year and WOYWW

This is my first collage of the new year and my first chance to join in WOYWW.  I haven't had anything on my work space for a couple of months.  I've been supplementing my need to create with doodles.  Here's what my workspace looks like today.  It seemed like over the holiday season it was a catching place for everything that didn't have a place of it's own.  Now it's back to where it was intended to be.
I picked up one of those wooden boxes to experiment with instead of a canvas.  My thought was to first cover it with torn pieces from an old dictionary, then paint and use other colored stuff.  But after covering with the dictionary pages, and adding some burlap and  strings from the burlap then a piece of netting I kinda liked the way the neutral colors were looking.  I found some other neutral colored handmade papers, some wood veneer strips and added some pieces from a  brown paper bag to the edges.

Now just waiting for it to dry really good before I add the next layer.

You never know what you are going to get when you start this way.  That's what makes it fun, just seeing how it all comes together.

I did gather some, what is the word, ephemera.  Some orange trim, hemp twine, earthy colored ribbon and beads.  I also found some rusted stars that might work.  So it will get a little color but stay with the neutral, earthy team.

Scoot on over to Stamping Ground for What's on your Workdesk Wednesday to see what other work spaces look like today.  It's always fun to see what other artisans are doing.

Thanks for visiting, hope you are having a great week.

Hugs
