First Post of the New Year

I feel like I'm finally starting to move forward again.  So much time and energy goes into the holidays everything else just goes by the way side.  It's been way over a month since I posted.
I did have one project during the holidays, I painted an IKEA stool.  I think it must be the 6th one I've done.  It is such a great little stool to have close, it's just what I need to get into the upper cupboards in the kitchen.   This one was for my older daughter's apartment and a Christmas gift.

My other daughter decided her stool needed a little embellishment so I am doing the same stencil design on the top and a little gold distressing around all the edges.  Her's was already painted 3 different colors so just needed some detail added.

This should get the mind going in a creative direction again.  Been a little sluggish since the holidays were over.   We did go up to Seattle to see the King Tut exhibit at the Pacific Science Center.  Then since we were there we decided we had to see the Chihuly Garden and Glass.  This was awesome at night.  It's just amazing what he has done with glass.  The garden walk, under the Seattle Space Needle was beautiful.

Next time you are in Seattle be sure to tour the gardens.

I did get a fun new toy for Christmas, my honey bought me an iPad   I am getting so techie.  Not really but I am stumbling through this stuff.  I am having fun with the new app I download.  Doodle Buddy is right up my alley, you can see my attempt at doodling on the ipad with only my finger at She Who Doodles, my other blog.

I think I'm going to like it.  I've already had FaceTime with my daughter when she was at the beach.  Unlike a PC, I don't have to sit in front of it to chat.  I can prop it and move around.  I've got it synced with my phone and PC, still working on getting it to print, but think I'm going to need another App to do that.

Hope everybody had a great Christmas and New Years.  Time to get back to business.  Next decision, which way to go with my art this year.

Thanks for visiting.  We'll chat again soon.

The holidays sure do take up our time. I felt the same way. I've finally gotten back into the studio and it feels good.

You're getting so techie. I wouldn't know what to do with an iPad. If I ever get one I'll probably have to hire some kid to show me what to do!

Great photos, Cyndee, and I do love that stool! Some of the Ikea stuff is great for altering, isn't it. Have you done any of their small square mirrors? the wide flat frame is a gift to an artist!

Thanks for your visit and your nice comment. I put on a couple more layers of papier mache onto the spoke guards today - they will probably require at least 2 more layers, and then the fun can begin!
